We
normally provide executive succession planning within the
context of strategic planning or board development, as an
additional service. We
feel succession planning is an inherent part of addressing
broader organizational issues usually related to unclear
organizational goals, objectives, and responsibilities as
determined by the Board. An effective succession plan is usually
complement
ed by a strategic plan that describes the function of staff and
stakeholders needed to achieve desired outcomes.
The succession plan begins with an evaluation of the
current organizational structure.
With the Board’s guidance, we make recommendations on
how to improve organizational and program management. We then
assist the Board in establishing a set of short-term
time-limited tasks for the Executive Director that can be the
basis for contracting and be used to initiate a long-term
succession process. Fee
for this service has a wide range depending on how much
organizational development work is involved, therefore the price
can vary.
