Development
Audit
You
need more money, what do you do?
You start with a development audit, that’s what you
do. You’re
probably familiar with financial audits, and they can be
intimidating. Auditing
is meant to poke around and uncover soft spots.
A
Development Audit uncovers what’s working and not working
about your organizational fundraising plans and is an effective
method for laying a foundation to get ready for fundraising.
Often, the development audit is linked with a strategic
planning process.
The
audit often starts with an analysis of your donor cultivation
process, donor data, the files, and revenue projections
and then moves on to examine diversification of revenue,
and the development department’s role in assuring program
outcomes. At
mid-point, a DRAFT of the plan is created with the agency
for discussion. The
process is relatively short, taking 30 to 90 days depending
upon the client’s availability to work with us.
The
audit process is not for the faint of heart!
Is it interactive and deals with the actual problems
you are facing and how they may be resolved, reframed or
removed.
Organizational
development theory is interwoven with 20+ years of LAPA’s
fundraising experience and best serves those who want to
integrate their actual fundraising programs with new approaches.
