Family
Services of Westchester: Port Chester,
NY: Child & Family Mental Health Services: We provide grantwriting
services for a camp for children affected by HIV/AIDS (Camp
Viva), adult day care service for the elderly (My Second Home),
Big Brothers / Big Sisters and other programs ($350,000 raised
annually). FSW has been our client since 1995. For more information,

MHRA CBC
Project: Medical and Health Research Association of NYC:
Since January 2002, LAPA
has been conducting an outcome evaluation of the NY Eligible
Metropolitan Area Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) initiatives
for Ryan White CARE Act Title I funded programs. The
purpose of this outcome evaluation is to gather information
by surveying the service providers, excluding their consumers
of service. LAPA is providing contract management, time compliance,
systems development, reporting, and product delivery---providing
technical guidance as needed.
LAPA has subcontracted with Philliber Research Associates
who is leading the research design, data collection, data processing
and analysis, and documentation. The work is being conducted
with the Mayor’ Office
on AIDS Policy Coordination 17 CBC funded agencies.
Every
Person Influences Children:
Nationally: EPIC is a parent-training and student character
development program. It works primarily with parents and teachers,
the two most influential groups in a child's life, to help children
form a solid foundation from which to acquire the decision-making
skills and character needed to grow and develop into responsible
adults. We are redesigning their grants and introducing them
to a wider group of new funders. Our goal is to raise $200,000

The
Church of St. Luke In The Field:
West Village: Three projects: AIDS Project, GO-St. Luke's, and
the Youth Outreach Program. The AIDS Projects provides vital
nutritional care and hot meals on the weekend to people living
with HIV/AIDS while the GO-St. Luke's Project provides remedial
tutoring services to low-income children from public and parochial
schools. The Youth Outreach Program provides a safe space and
workshops in the arts for GLBT youth, ages 13-21, who spend
time on the streets and are at risk of HIV, drug use, and prostitution.
We raise $150,000 annually through grants and individual giving,
after restructuring development processes. Additionally, we
restructured and outsourced their data base management. For

Harlem
United: Harlem,
NY: With a mission of providing 100% access to care and creating
zero disparity in health outcomes caused by racial and economic
barriers, Harlem United has been immersed in the challenges
of reducing the harms of HIV/AIDS in Upper Manhattan. Harlem
United has created and implemented compassionate, concrete,
and culturally sensitive HIV/AIDS services in response to the
needs of the agency's clients - persons living with HIV/AIDS
whose diagnosis often is complicated by homelessness, mental
illness, and substance use. LAPA is providing technical assistance
and grantwriting through the United Way of New York's Management
Assistance Program.
St.
Paul's Episcopal Church: Newport News, VA: St. Paul's Outreach
Ministries provide compassionate care to those who are hungry,
ill, without safe shelter, unemployed, or excluded for whatever
reason. Ministries include "A Safe Place," a weekday
walk-in center for homeless adults that provides mail service,
storage, laundry, shower, restroom and respite care. Other programs
include weekday and weekend meal service, health services for
the homeless, and Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
LAPA's goal is to raise $100,000 from foundations and individuals
for expansion of the outreach ministries. In addition, LAPA
is advising St. Paul's on preparations for a $2 million capital
campaign for a new building. For more information, please see

Fessenden
Supportive Housing: Yonkers, NY: Fessenden House provides
supportive housing to men in recovery from alcohol and drug
addiction. One of the reasons Fessenden House has proven so
effective and so unique is that residents and staff live together,
eat together, work and relax together, and support each other
in a "home" setting. LAPA writes grants for Fessenden
House and does direct mail solicitations. Fessenden House is
also developing a strategy for a possible capital campaign.
Urban
Health Plan: Bronx, NY: Urban Health Plan is a leader providing
affordable, comprehensive primary health care in a culturally
sensitive manner to the residents of the South Bronx. LAPA worked
with the Board and Staff on a retreat to focus on the organization's
mission, vision, and values. LAPA also facilitated a board self-evaluation
and led a restatement process for a new vision and values statement.
LAPA continues to assist UHP in developing a long-range plan
and also a succession plan for the organization. LAPA is appreciative
of the Hispanic Federation's assistance in providing these critical
services to UHP.
New
York AIDS Coalition: The New York AIDS Coalition (NYAC)
is an alliance of community-based service providers and supporters
working to ensure increased funding and fair policies for people
living with HIV/AIDS in New York State. LAPA is helping NYAC
diversify their sources of revenue through foundation and corporate
grantwriting, as well as a membership campaign. For more information,

Bellevue Hospital:
Bellevue Hospital Center is one of the nation’s largest and
most experienced providers of medical care and social services
to persons with HIV/AIDS. LAPA is conducting a marketing and
case finding initiative for Bellevue’s new dental clinic, the
only comprehensive HIV oral health program operating in Lower
Manhattan.
Lavender Light:
The Black and People of All Colors Gospel Choir: Lavender Light
performs inspirational gospel music with a social justice message
for New York City's people of color, gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgendered (LGBT), and HIV/AIDS communities. LAPA writes
grants for Lavender Light, coordinates direct mail solicitations
and advises on marketing for new singing opportunities. For

China AIDS Fund:
Started by a group of prominent Chinese-American scientists,
businessmen, and community leaders, China AIDS Fund’s mission
is to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS in China by leveraging the
support of the Chinese-American community. LAPA is working with
China AIDS Fund on program and organizational development, individual
donor cultivation and solicitation, and grantwriting. For more

The Fortune Society:
Staffed primarily by ex-prisoners, The Fortune Society helps
ex-prisoners and at-risk youth break the cycle of crime and
incarceration through a broad range of services. The organization
is also dedicated to educating the public about prisons, criminal
justice issues, and the root causes of crime. LAPA is conducting
an audit of the Fortune Society’s development department.
Doctors for an Open
Society: Doctors for an Open Society (DOS) provides medical
students with structured, "real world" opportunities
to learn about the medical needs of disadvantaged populations
in community clinic settings. A consortium of NCY community
health clinics and medical schools, DOS offers summer and year-round
fellowships organized around a formal community health curriculum,
mentoring, and independent projects. LAPA is working with DOS
to establish its 501c3 tax-exempt status and increase revenue

Women’s Center:
The Women’s Center is a community-based, family focused mental
health and primary health care program located in the Bronx
that provides integrated care for HIV infected/AIDS diagnosed
women, their family members, and friends. Through a grant from
the United Way of NYC’s Management Assistance Program, the Women’s
Center has outsourced its private fundraising efforts to LAPA
in order to increase revenue from foundations.
Hogan’s Residence:
Located in Brooklyn, Hogan’s Residence, Inc. (HRI) provides
supportive housing to homeless men in recovery from substance
abuse. HRI empowers residents to reclaim the dignity lost to
addiction through a six to fourteen month program of individual
and group counseling, case management, and community involvement.
Through a technical assistance grant from Interfaith Medical
Center, LAPA is working with HRI to diversify its revenue from
private foundations and individuals.
The Westchester Department
of Health: The Westchester Department of Health is dedicated
to protecting the health of Westchester County. They work to
control the spread of disease, enforce safety and sanitary codes,
promote healthy choices, provide timely health information,
and assist with medical services. LAPA is working with the Westchester
Department of Health to compile an AIDS Resource Directory for
Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester Counties. The directory will
be used as the definitive resource that case workers, service
providers, and clients use to find service information. We are
also compiling and printing emergency wallet-sized resource
cards to be distributed to people living with AIDS. For more

Moratorium Project:
New York, NY: Prison Moratorium Project (PMP), a youth-led grassroots
organization, is a group of progressive student activists dedicated
to halting prison expansion and advocating for a fair, effective,
and humane criminal justice system. LAPA provides technical
analysis and assistance for implementation of a 4-Step Individual

of Protestant Welfare Agencies:
New York, NY: The mission of the Federation of Protestant Welfare
Agencies is to assure, through service membership agencies and
policy and program efforts, the social and economic well-being
of the people of New York. Our work with The Federation involves
Technical Assistance Workshops aimed at general fundraising

Seven New York City
Harm Reduction Agencies:
In partnership with the Department of Health and Welfare Research,
Inc., we worked to serve the most innovative response to helping
low-income substance users reduce harm and increase health that
we have seen. Marketing plans, board recruitment, and assistance
with annual campaigns defined our scope of services.
HIV
Law Project:
We helped to create business operational plans, private grants
and an individual donor giving campaign for this national organization.
We also assisted them in the completion of their office relocation
campaign.
Children's
Movement for Creative Education:
New York City: We provided grantwriting services and technical
support for a major donor-giving program for this academic program
for low-income children in NYC Public Schools.
Puerto
Rican Legal Defense & Education Fund:
We worked with their Board and Staff to develop an agency-wide
five-year Strategic Plan, after having facilitated a board/staff
retreat weekend.
New
York City Department of Health:
Prevention Planning Unit: We conducted focus groups and telephone
interviews for members of various faith communities to determine
future innovative HIV prevention strategies.
Citywide
Behavioral Network:
a consortium of 45 CBO's in NYC offering an array of outpatient,
residential, home health, and rehabilitation services in behavioral
health, with a significant focus on child mental health.
Empire
State Pride Agenda:
NYS political lobbying agency. We conducted an eight-month board
of director's facilitated self-evaluation.
Ruben
Consa Floral Designs:
We prepared business proposals to secure corporate support for
a national Latin Floral Exhibit.

York University's Wagner School of Public Service:
We researched interviews
of 35 CEOs to test ideas about their needs for on-going support.

Takes A Village:
a new AIDS Prevention service for children and youth serving
Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood: We prepared development

We updated and revised the 3rd edition of NY Statewide

a job agency for people living with AIDS: We conducted a 6-month
$120,000 annual campaign.

Interior naming of new facility for Friends House in Rosehill:

Solicitation. We completed an eldercare feasibility study
of 70-person telephone
survey for proposed Eldercare Social Model Adult Day Care program
for Northern Westchester County as requested by an anonymous
private foundation and Family Service of Westchester.
